Biorhythm Calculator
See your biorhythm cycles — physical, emotional and intellectual — for a chosen day, based on days since your birth. A fun retro curiosity, presented honestly: biorhythms are not scientifically valid, but they're an entertaining thing to look at.
How to use this calculator
- Enter your birth date and the date to check.
- See your three cycles as high, low or neutral for that day.
- Enjoy it as a curiosity — it doesn't actually predict anything.
Formula used
Biorhythm theory models three fixed sine waves starting at birth: physical (23 days), emotional (28) and intellectual (33). "Critical" days are when a wave crosses zero. It's purely mechanical — the same day-count always gives the same values.
Example calculation
For a birth date of 15 June 1995 on 26 July 2026 (day 11,364): the three waves each sit at a fixed point in their 23/28/33-day cycles.
Because it's just sine waves from a date, the result is completely deterministic — and completely unrelated to how you'll really feel.
A fun theory that doesn't hold up
Biorhythm theory, popular in the 1970s, claims that from the moment of birth three cycles govern us — a 23-day physical cycle, a 28-day emotional one, and a 33-day intellectual one — each rising and falling as a smooth sine wave, with "critical" days as they cross zero. It's a neat, appealing idea, and watching the waves is undeniably fun, which is why it endures as a novelty.
But it's important to be straight about this one: biorhythms have been studied properly and found to have no predictive validity whatsoever. Controlled research consistently shows the cycles don't correlate with actual physical performance, mood, accidents or mental sharpness — they're just fixed mathematical curves derived from a date, with no connection to your biology. Real energy and mood are driven by sleep, health, stress, nutrition and countless daily factors, none of which a birth-date sine wave can capture. So enjoy this as the retro curiosity it is, and don't plan anything around it — that's the honest and only sensible way to take it.
Why use this calculator?
- See the classic three biorhythm cycles for any date.
- A fun, nostalgic curiosity.
- Presented honestly — with the science that debunks it.
Frequently asked questions
What are the three biorhythm cycles?
Physical (a 23-day cycle for energy and strength), emotional (28 days for mood and sensitivity) and intellectual (33 days for focus and reasoning). Each is modelled as a sine wave starting from your birth date.
Do biorhythms actually work?
No. Biorhythm theory has been scientifically tested and shown to have no predictive validity — the cycles don't correlate with real performance, mood or events. They're fixed curves from a date, unrelated to your biology. It's entertainment only.
What is a 'critical' day in biorhythms?
In the theory, a critical day is when a cycle crosses the zero line, said to be unstable for that area. Since biorhythms have no proven validity, though, critical days don't actually predict anything — treat them as part of the game.
