Formula used
The calculator walks every date in the range, skipping your chosen weekend days, then subtracts the holiday count you provide. Public holidays vary by country and region, which is why you supply the number.
Example calculation
From Monday 1 June to Tuesday 30 June (Sat+Sun weekends, 1 holiday):
30 calendar days − 8 weekend days = 22 working days − 1 holiday = 21 working days — about 4.2 working weeks.
Why working days matter
Contracts, courts, banks and couriers count in business days, not calendar days — "within 10 working days" can mean two full calendar weeks or more once weekends and holidays land in between. Getting the count wrong is how deadlines get missed by people who did the math on calendar days.
Weekend patterns also differ globally: most countries rest Saturday–Sunday, several Middle Eastern countries use Friday–Saturday, and six-day work weeks with only Sunday off remain common — which is why the pattern is selectable here.

In this calculator, yes — both endpoints count when they're working days. Some legal contexts start counting the day after the trigger event, so for contractual deadlines, check the wording and shift your start date if needed.
How many working days are in a year?
A 365-day year has about 261 weekdays; subtracting typical public holidays (8–15 depending on the country) leaves roughly 246–253 working days.
Why doesn't the calculator know my public holidays?
Holidays differ by country, state and even city, and many move each year. Entering the count from your local calendar keeps the result exact everywhere in the world.
