Formula used
Area factors are the squares of length factors — since 1 ft = 0.3048 m, 1 ft² = 0.3048² = 0.0929 m². This squaring is why area conversions surprise intuition.
Example calculation
A 1,000 sq ft apartment: 1,000 × 0.0929 = 92.9 m². A 1-acre plot is 4,047 m² — about 0.4 hectares or 43,560 sq ft.
Area units in real estate and land
Apartments are marketed in square feet or square meters depending on country; farmland uses acres (US/UK) or hectares (most of the world). One hectare is a clean 100 m × 100 m square; one acre is historically the area a team of oxen could plough in a day.
Anchors worth knowing: 1 m² ≈ 10.8 ft², 100 m² ≈ 1,076 ft², 1 hectare = 2.47 acres, and a football (soccer) pitch is roughly 0.7 hectares or 1.75 acres.
